Before you set off

The door is below street level

This is the part people get wrong, so it is worth a photograph. From the road you will not see a front door at all. The entrance is at the bottom of a short flight of steps, down off the street.

The street outside 6 Arc Place: a paved driveway running down between brick apartment buildings, with railings on the right and a traffic mirror on a pole at the corner.
1 · From the streetTurn in off the road and follow the paved slope down past the railings.
The entrance to 6 Arc Place seen from above: a short flight of steps down to a paved forecourt with planters of white flowers, leading to tall glass doors set into a brick wall.
2 · Down the stepsThe glass doors past the planters are the way in. That is the whole entrance.

Coming with a wheelchair, a walker or a pram? Write to us first and we will tell you exactly what the approach is like on the day, rather than have you find out at the top of the steps. hello@ummacenter.com

When to come

We do not publish set opening hours, because we do not have a set of hours we could promise. The reliable way to know somebody is here is to come for something on the calendar.

What happens when you walk in

Walk-ins are welcome. There is no staffed reception desk. Check the calendar or arrange a visit before travelling; opening hours are not published.

  • Parking. Easy parking, close to the SI Expressway.
  • The Main Hall is the big room most things happen in, and it is straight ahead.
  • The café is somewhere to sit whether or not you are here for anything.
  • UMMA Studio is booked by request rather than by dropping in.

We do not publish set visiting hours yet, so the calendar above is the honest answer to “will anyone be there”. If you would rather we meet you at the door, ask for a visit and we will arrange a time.

What is inside

Four rooms and a café counter. Small enough that your child will learn the name of every one of them.

  • The main hall at 6 Arc Place: a wide polished-concrete floor under a black ceiling, with a low stage at one end and the café counter at the other.
  • The podcast studio: a wooden recording table with red chairs, microphones on boom arms and mugs set out, beneath two wall-mounted screens.
  • The café counter inside UMMA Center, with stools along the bar.

Before you come

Ask us anything first

About your child, about what to expect, about whether a thing is for you. Nothing is too small to ask.
