Terms of Use

The rules, kept short.

What you agree to when you use this site or create an account.

Last updated October 6, 2026

About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and UMMA Foundation Inc, a New York nonprofit (EIN 86-3883211). We run UMMA Center at 6 Arc Place, Staten Island, NY 10306. "We" and "us" mean UMMA Foundation Inc, its staff and its volunteers.

You agree to these terms when you tick the box to create an account, or when you agree to them before signing up for a program. Please read them.

Some programs also ask you to sign their own forms, such as a parent consent or a waiver. Those forms add to these terms. If a program form and these terms disagree, the program form wins for that program.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data. Our Membership Policies explain cancelling, pausing and refunds for memberships.

Your account

  • You must be 18 or older to create an account. Children never have their own account. They take part through a parent or guardian’s household.
  • Give us true details, and keep them up to date. This matters most for a child’s health, allergies and pickup details.
  • Keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
  • Tell us straight away if you think someone else is using it.

Prices and payments

  • A free account is free. You only pay when you choose a paid program, membership or purchase. You see the price before you pay.
  • Card payments are handled by Stripe. When you pay by card, you allow us to charge that card for what you chose.
  • Memberships and monthly programs renew every month until you cancel. We charge the card on file each month. You can cancel at any time, and the cancellation stops the next charge.
  • If a payment fails, we may pause the membership or the program place until it is paid.
  • If a price changes, we will tell you by email before the new price is charged.
  • If you think a charge is wrong, please contact us first. We will fix our mistakes in full.

Cancelling a program and refunds

Staff can make an exception in hard cases. When they do, it is written down.

  • Cancel more than 7 days before a program starts: full refund.
  • Cancel 7 days or less before it starts: half of what you paid comes back.
  • After a program has started: no refund.
  • If we cancel a program you paid for, you get a full refund, or another place if you would like one.
  • Memberships follow our Membership Policies. Homebase tuition follows the Homebase agreement.

The café wallet

  • The wallet holds money you add, to spend at the café. It is not a bank account, and it earns no interest.
  • Money in the wallet does not expire.
  • A parent or guardian can set daily and weekly spending limits for each family member.
  • You can ask for unspent money back. We return it to the card it came from. If a card cannot take it back, we will work out another way with you.
  • Keep your payment code private. If a phone or code is lost, tell us and we will stop it.

Donations

UMMA Foundation Inc is a nonprofit. A donation is a gift, so it is not refunded, unless we charged you by mistake. We send a receipt you can use for your taxes, as the law allows.

Taking part, and the risks

Our programs include sports, games, fitness, play, cooking, outings and service projects. Like any activity, these carry a risk of injury, even with good supervision.

By taking part, or letting your child take part, you accept these ordinary risks, as far as the law allows. Nothing here takes away a right you have by law, and nothing here excuses us if we are careless.

Tell us before a session about any health problem, allergy, injury or need that could affect taking part. Do not send a child who is unwell.

Follow the instructions of staff and coaches, especially about safety equipment and where people may go.

Emergencies and medical care

If someone is hurt or becomes unwell, staff will give first aid and call 911 if it is needed. For a child, we will try to reach a parent or the emergency contacts on file straight away.

If we cannot reach you, you allow staff to get emergency medical care for your child, including a trip to hospital. The cost of that care is yours or your insurer’s.

Staff do not give medicine unless you have arranged it with us in writing.

Children, drop-off and pickup

  • We look after children only during a session’s set times, and only after they are checked in.
  • At the end, a child goes home only with a parent or an adult the family has authorized. We may ask for ID.
  • Please arrive on time. Late pickup follows each program’s rules, which may include a fee or a call to emergency contacts.
  • Children must follow our rules. If a child is unsafe, or keeps making it unsafe for others, we may call you to collect them, and we may end their place.
  • Staff are mandated reporters. If we think a child may be at risk, we must tell the authorities.

How everyone behaves here

Everyone at the center, at our events and on this site must act with respect. This includes parents, guests and visitors. Our Youth Safety page sets out how we protect young people.

  • No harassment, bullying, threats, hate or violence.
  • No weapons, alcohol, drugs, smoking or vaping on our property.
  • Respect prayer spaces and times, and the other families around you.
  • Adults at events stay with and supervise their own children, unless a child is checked in to a program.
  • We may ask anyone to leave, limit or close an account, or ban someone, to keep people safe. We may call the police when needed.

Photos, video and recordings

  • We take photos and video at programs and events, and we share some of them on our website and social channels.
  • We only use images of a child as their parent’s photo consent allows. A parent can change that choice at any time.
  • At public events, adults may appear in photos and video. If you do not want to be filmed, tell a staff member and we will avoid you.
  • Recordings made in our studio need their own release, signed before recording.
  • Do not photograph or film other people’s children without their parent’s permission.

Our building and your belongings

  • Follow staff directions and posted signs in the building and parking area.
  • Please look after your own belongings. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for things that are lost, stolen or damaged, unless we caused it.
  • If you damage our property on purpose or through carelessness, you may be asked to pay for it.

Closures and changes

We may change, move, shorten or cancel a session, or close the building, for weather, holidays, emergencies, safety or other reasons. We will tell you as soon as we can.

We are not responsible for delays or closures caused by things outside our control, such as severe weather, power cuts, public-health orders or emergencies.

Using the website

Please do not:

  • break the law, or harm, harass or threaten anyone;
  • try to get into accounts or parts of the site that are not yours;
  • overload, scrape or interfere with the site;
  • post or send anything you do not have the right to share.

Our content and yours

Text, photos, logos and designs on this site belong to UMMA Foundation or the people who made them. Please ask before reusing them.

If you send us something, such as a message, a story or a photo, you let us use it to run our programs and reply to you. We may remove anything that breaks these terms.

Links to other websites are there to help. We do not control those sites.

The site assistant

The assistant is a computer program. It can be wrong. Check anything important with our staff, and never rely on it for medical, legal or safety advice.

No guarantees

We work hard to keep the site accurate and running, but it is provided "as is". We cannot promise it will always be available or free of mistakes.

Limits on our responsibility

As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect losses, such as lost time or lost earnings.

As far as the law allows, if we are responsible for a loss, the most we will pay is what you paid us in the 12 months before it happened.

These limits do not apply where the law does not allow them. They never cover injury caused by our negligence where the law forbids it, or harm we cause on purpose or through gross negligence.

If you break these terms

If someone makes a claim against us because you broke these terms or the law, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of that claim, as far as the law allows.

Closing an account

  • You can ask us to close your account at any time.
  • We may pause or close an account that breaks these terms, or to keep people safe.
  • If an account closes, any unspent wallet money is returned as set out above. Our Privacy Policy explains what records we must keep.

If something goes wrong

Please tell us first, at hello@ummacenter.com. Most problems are fixed by talking. We will reply and try to put it right within 30 days.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York. Any court case goes to the state or federal courts for Richmond County, New York.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top. When a change matters, we will ask you to agree to the new terms before your next program sign-up, and we may email you about it.

The fine print

  • If a court finds part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
  • If we do not enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
  • You may not pass your account or these terms to someone else.
  • These terms, our policies and any program forms you sign are the whole agreement between us.
