UMMA Center

For community

Built through, not built for.

A doctor mentors. A chef teaches. A filmmaker makes a show. A masjid co-hosts. We supply the operation around it.

Not competition

Strong communities don't ask one institution to do everything.

Different institutions have different jobs. The community is stronger when those jobs connect than when one tries to do everything.

  • Home

Where values are formed, and the only place that can do it.

  • Masajid

Worship, Quran, and the community that holds a family through a decade.

  • Schools

The academic day, and the standards a young person is measured against.

  • UMMA Center

The hours around all of it. Friendships, mentors, studios, and somewhere to be on a Friday.

UMMA Center does not replace a masjid, a school or a home. It is not trying to. It covers the part of the week none of them was built for.

Find your role

What do you want to bring?

Pick what you actually have rather than which of our teams you think you need. Each one tells you what it involves before it asks you for anything.

Open right now

Jobs we actually need doing.

These are the standing needs, not a wishlist. Pick one and we will match you to the next time it runs.

  • Friday Nights setup crew

    Ongoing

Chairs, tables and the room flip before doors open. About an hour, and it is the difference between a night that starts on time and one that does not.

    Every Friday, before doors

  • Friday Nights food & hospitality

    Ongoing

Serving, drinks, and the clean-down after. The part of the evening people actually remember.

    Every Friday evening

  • Family Sundays front desk

    Ongoing

Greeting families and checking people in when forty of them arrive at once. Needs a background check first — it puts you with under-18s.

    Sundays

Works directly with under-18s, so this one needs a background check and a safeguarding orientation first.

  • Saturday Sessions program support

    Ongoing

Being the second adult in the room — handing out materials, keeping a group on task, noticing the kid who has gone quiet. Background check required.

    Saturdays during term

Works directly with under-18s, so this one needs a background check and a safeguarding orientation first.

  • Photograph a program

    Ongoing

Shoot one session so it exists outside the room. If you own a camera and know how to use it, we want to hear from you — almost nothing that happens here gets photographed. Background check required for youth programs.

    Any program, any week

Works directly with under-18s, so this one needs a background check and a safeguarding orientation first.

  • Project day crew

    Ongoing

Painting, assembling, fixing, hauling. Occasional and announced in advance — the fastest way to see a room change in a single Saturday.

    Occasional Saturdays

What we supply

You bring the thing. We run everything around it.

When someone with a good program does not run it, the idea is rarely the problem. It is the room, the scheduling, the payments, the no-shows and the paperwork.

  • A room, and the safeguarding around it, an organization brings its own certificate of insurance
  • Registration, payments and check-in
  • Scheduling that does not collide with the rest of the week
  • An audience already coming through the door
  • Background checks run to the state child-care standard
  • Promotion, and a page your program actually lives on

Before you start

The things people ask us first.

Short answers, and none of them a promise we cannot keep.

Do I need an account?
No. Every pathway on this page can be started without signing in. An account only comes up where it genuinely does something for you — a household one, if you are enrolling a child.
Is this a commitment?
No. Each pathway states its smallest real step, and the first conversation costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
What happens after I send it?
It lands in the queue for the person who handles that pathway, not a general inbox. A human reads it and comes back to you. You get a reference on the confirmation screen.
How do I chase it up?
Keep the reference. It is six characters, with no letters and digits that look alike, so it survives being read out over the phone.
What about checks and paperwork?
Anyone who will be with under-18s clears a background check and a safeguarding orientation first, and an outside organization running its own program here brings a certificate of insurance. We arrange both with you — there is nothing to upload on this site.
What do you do with my details?
Reply to you, and keep a record of the conversation. We do not sell them or share them outside UMMA Center.

what we are building toward by 2030

30 cities

A goal, not a count. Today there is one UMMA Center. The way there is a model other cities can copy. So we build it with people, not for them.

An initiative of UMMA Foundation.

Tell us what you have.

A masjid. A school. A business. An hour a month. Or a program you have run for years. The first conversation costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
